Veteran's Day

Veteran’s Day
By: Tyler Ross

Hey mister! I’m so sorry
Have they forgotten you again?
How’s the cold from the pavement?
Sad to ask, how’s it been?

Society won’t care to ask
Mind runs like a circuit board
Bouncing around from place to place
Why have they all cut the cord?

Hey! they want you out
Neglected to say thanks
Your country is safe
But not enough to display you grace

Sad stories no glory for him
Sad stories no glory for him
Veteran’s Day where to begin?
Now an outcast led to the loony bin

Hey mister! I’m so sorry
Are you troubled and alone?
You could use some new clothes
And a helping hand made of stone

Sad stories no glory for him
Sad stories no glory for him
No one listens as he is pinned
Up against the wall his confession
Ready to die a life ending lesson

Veteran’s Day
No more impact
No more impression
Destroyed war brain
Left to rot a life ending lesson
