The Fiction We’ve Been Told
By: Tyler Ross
Before there was you, there were many others
One civilization followed after another
Shared beliefs written from scratch
A rewritten book to please for souls to catch
What makes you believe yours is right?
That word called faith hangs loosely in and out of sight
No consistency, can’t you see it’s no way to live
Just one group trying to control another
Realistically, something’s got to give
High hopes and convictions come crashing down
Years from now, how much of it will be around?
Making way for the individual mind
More truth in that than the blind leading the blind
Ever since death, man has sparked up the thought
The existence of an afterlife incorporated into life’s plot
The world is vast and most want a safety net
To lump every answer under an organized crime bet
A false sense of security and a foolish way to preach
Don’t tell outsiders they’re going to hell because of what you teach
You don’t have the answers of what’s right or what’s wrong
There has been organized failure before you even belonged
To a group of disciples who’ve come and gone
You don’t have to think when the thinking has already been done
When there is something unexplainable, you go ahead and blame it on the one
No responsibility, it has come down to fear, tradition and a back up plan
There is no questioning, but a dependency of this pedestal higher than man
Give up the idea or keep it to yourself and don’t rely on anyone ever
Chances are no one will be there when you need them most to get together
So stop acting like you are safe and better than the rest
That attitude has caused too many wars and a lack of free thinking at best
