Feed Flowers, Kill Weeds

Feed Flowers, Kill Weeds

By: Tyler Ross

Communication is at an all-time low.

Some would rather blow you off

then just say no.

Cold, and not just the temperature of actions.

Frigid fucking souls

showing true cards.

Can’t draw no satisfaction.

We know information has been received.

Your lack of action will not achieve respect,

but only solidify what we do next

and that is nothing.

Go ahead and keep fronting

with those hypocritical social media posts.

A person should be… communication is key… I’m sad when people… are you kidding me?

That’s you! More importantly.

No self-reflection.

Ego driven, never learning the lesson.

Too afraid to speak up.

Too selfish to drink what you pour in other cups.

Because we know you’re full of shit.

Treating people like you’re above it.

Pure greed.

Silence until attention hunger grows like a weed.

Me, me, me, me.

“Society says, I owe you nothing” (eye roll)

Some truth to it, I’m told.

Blah. Blah. Blah. Okay, you’re free!

Back into the cold where you belong.

So long.

No longer contact me.

Feed flowers, kill weeds.

Know the difference.

Trimming The Fat

Trimming The Fat

By: Tyler Ross

You’re too important

but I don’t care to know

what your excuses are

because you already showed

your lack of respect

for my time.

So I’ll take that sign

And, boy I’ll let it shine.

Let it shine, oh, let it shine.

I won’t pine my mind,

or get lost in your kind.

I won’t teach you a lesson

because that aggression

only creates an obsession

where I’m giving too much of me

and you’re too blind to see, no question.

The energy you stole

you can keep, it’s fine.

I can read between your lines.

But know I won’t be coming back.

There’s a word already for that.

A doormat.

Rubbed off, left behind discarded like trash.

I know better than that.

It’s real hard to think about anyone else

when you’re too caught up in yourself.

It sucks, but what I know is beyond wealth,

and will help me now take better care of myself.

BLM (Say It, Live It)

BLM (Say It, Live It)

by: Tyler Ross

Black Lives Matter, why can’t you see?

Why is it hard for you to treat civilly

and equally

like you would to me?

Our police intimidate our streets,

and with institutional racism,

our brothers and sisters find it hard to compete.

A leveled life playing field everyday.

Opportunities like you and I have,

the privilege to control their own way.

And still, you find it hard to understand or say,

Black Lives Matter

Every fucking day!

Just like yours, just like mine.

Stop trying to shadow the shine.

This should have never taken this much time.

Are you an ally

or are you ignorantly uneducated?

What will it take?

For you to bring your walls down,

showcase real respectful love over the hatred.

This isn’t political.

Protecting Black people is critical.

Humanitarians, raise your fist in the air.

Time to reach for the pinnacle.

And for all you speaking cynical,

Your lack of presence is visible.

Lacking an understanding to the basic human rights principles.

Fighting for equal justice will resume.

Elevate the unheard and allow their voices to bloom.

Since the evil in people won’t fully die

Like Pac said, we gotta make these changes

and do what we gotta do to survive.

Give back, open your mind.

Protect All Black Lives!

Let’s help keep people of color alive.

Today, tomorrow, forever we will continue to strive

for everyone

to have the chance at life’s giant piece of the pie.

Why I Protect Myself?

Why I Protect Myself?
By: Tyler Ross

The nicer I am, the less respect I seem to get.
How come you can make plans with them,
but ignore our plans like they ain’t shit?
We’re told its a give and take,
but the more I think about it,
I really don’t relate.
Seems like a lot of work to be friends.
The road only works for most on one end.
But still I bend,
I break and I make the same mistakes
with those more willing to take
than communicate.
This isn’t a debate.
You can’t argue my feelings
when there’s no true care at stake.
So continue to fuck off
and do as you please.
You won’t find me waiting around.
You won’t find me on my knees.
My fault for giving you too much effort and my time.
You disrespected mine
and I’m learning more to respect myself,
so step away as I grow and shine.
You no longer matter
as I like to stick with those who are kind.
Don’t come crawling back
because you’ll only get my behind.
Stay convenient.
Stay unlearned and stunted.
You are no longer worth my time.
We all know the type
and you are NOT wanted!

Frequent Flier Miles

Frequent Flier Miles
By: Tyler Ross

We took that ride home
got carried away.
We took that ride home
another day.
Lost in the clouds
and endless blue.
Down that path
where I hurt you.
Cost me more than just love.
A part of me died soaring above.
Back to California
without a clue.
Head frozen,
nothing new.
Stuck in reflection,
What do I do?
Nothing new.
Thoughts of you.
Oh, those thoughts of you.
Wish I really knew what to do.

I, Purge

I, Purge
By: Tyler Ross

I’m vulnerable.
I leap.
My feelings seep.
They can make me weak.
Misinterpreted by hypocritical ears.
They aren’t my friends.
We play “just pretend”
socially on the net to no end.
No need to extend
since they refuse my hand
and try to make an effort.
I bite my tongue
meet teeth to teeth
to refrain from sinking deep
or losing any sleep.
Its no use.
No peace, no truce.
The world’s fucked and lost its juice.
What’s the use?
Amongst judgmental beings
stained with their shifty in betweens.
Nothing is good enough.
But everything can be seen.
No attention can be held.
Distractions always felt.
I blame me for even bothering
now its fucking with my health.
I’ll walk away
before I decay
and compromise my sanity.
Too much vanity,
ego driven fantasy
you’re all so dead.
Six feet under me
living off all this insanity.

Nothing Lasts Forever

Nothing Lasts Forever
By: Tyler Ross

Your so-called intentions are no extension
to how you truly feel.
You play people pretending to be their friend,
but in the end
you’re just as pathetic
as the words your actions could never live up to.
Who’s fooling who?
I’ve got some unsolicited advice for you!
Nothing lasts forever.
One day those knocks at your door will cease.
Nothing lasts forever.
No will to feed this lowlife beast.
Our ties have been fully severed.
Oh, you think you’re clever
serving me your excuses
countless times
and rendering my attempts useless?
If you wanted to, you would have.
Speak up when spoken to.
It takes two.
Keep doing what you do,
cause in the end
no one will extend
or pay you the time of day
when this is how you choose to behave.
Please do me a favor
and evolve
or go the fuck AWAY!

As You Are

As You Are
By: Tyler Ross

I’ll take you for a drive.
Like raindrops fall from raincoats;
like whispers leaving lips,
slowly away from fear of expectations.
I’ll be your guiding light,
a heartbeat to keep you safe at night.
Trust me as we lead,
to that place we used to meet
full of smiles filled with clarity.
To the rocket ship painted in dreams,
that was left for just you and me.

So come with me I’ll buy you the ticket.
Don’t sweat it,
it’s more than a visit.
I need you
like the Earth needs the moon.
I need you to come home soon.

Even if life could, I would never let you go, so

Please come with me I’ll buy you the ticket.
Don’t sweat it,
it’s more than a commitment.
I need you
to stay with me not just visit.
I need you more this time.

Your happy crystal eyes
like hypnotic melodies mesmerize,
like waterfalls draped in greens,
soothing, bringing out the best in me.
Don’t take your precious time.
Life won’t wait, it’s such a crime
to be without water, when you’re the sunshine.
And even deeper, you’re always on my mind.

So journey with me to our place
where distractions don’t have what it takes
and the road is open wide.
I need you most in my life.

So,
come with me I’ll buy you the ticket.
Don’t sweat it,
it’s more than a visit.
I need you
like the Earth needs the moon.
I need you to come home soon.

Please come with me I’ll buy you the ticket.
Don’t sweat it,
it’s more than a commitment.
I need you
to stay with me not just visit.
I love you, it’s our time.

Please Tell Me I'm Wrong

Please Tell Me I'm Wrong
By: Tyler Ross

There’s a panic in my mind
and I cannot seem to dodge.
I pace it slowly while I retrace all my thoughts.
The burning in my brain can manifest little lies.
It’s hard to trust you when you’re inconsistent
and you don’t realize.

This isn’t where I see myself
questioning what’s there.
Looking for irregular patterns
on a single colored canvass left bare.
You’re magnificent in all directions,
I’ll never forget to feel.
But please don’t leave me out in the cold
if you’re not too sure if this is real…

Please tell me I’m wrong
for this doubt above me,
pushing me off this ledge.
I guess you just don’t know
how much I really care.
You’re selfish to notice what’s really there.

If this is serious, I want to know.
Do you want to keep on watering this plant,
and see it grow?
I get the impression, you’re bored, but feel so loved.
Caught up in a predicament,
you feel guilty because you want to run.

Please tell me I’m wrong
for this doubt above me,
pushing me off this ledge.
I guess you just don’t know
how much I really care.
It seems you’re selfish to notice what’s really there.

Please tell me I’m wrong.

Big Talk, No Walk

Big Talk, No Walk
By: Tyler Ross

Preach, you selfish fool.
Yeah, I’m talking to you.
Just like a faux leader,
telling other people what to do.
You are entitled, insecure
And need validation.
It’s your way or the highway,
Fuck your elevation!
You thrive off solidarity
or wherever you see fit.
You feed on negativity
Or when an issue takes a hit.
There have always been these issues,
Where were you before?
No need to answer,
I don’t care for you anymore.
I don’t buy your motivations.
I question everything you do.
You’re a popularity contest,
policing anyone with a different view.
You’re a tainted name.
I wish it wasn’t true.
You make me sick
from the lack of compassion living in you.
No need to comment,
you’re just like the bullies on the Net.
I won’t tread on your thoughts,
wasted time,  get a fucking grip!
Outside looking in,
sink or swim.
It’s a cold world,
your bullshit is wearing thin.

Buzz Kill?

Buzz Kill?
By: Tyler Ross

It was another late night
but it started to rain.
This night was something different
when it ended so insane.
I can't believe such dumb luck
then I realized
I'm not supposed to be happy
when you're seeing those other guys.

I hate to be so selfish
when we're out on a date.
But don't you find it funny
when things are going great?
That feeling of excitement
where you truly fucking care.
That's why it was surprising,
with your sex motive there.
Do you even care?

Is this a date or you just out to fuck me?
I can't relate when truth turns to nothing.
You smiled so bright.
I liked you right on site
I wish you'd just grow up
and you'll see you're doing it right.

You've got me so miserable
reflecting on myself.
Feeling my accomplishment
is negative to your health.
Let's get something straight
you're afraid of a good thing.
But don't you tell me
I'm the one being mean.
You're misunderstood.

Is this a date or you just out to fuck me?
I can't relate when truth turns to nothing.
You smiled so bright.
I liked you right on site
I wish you'd just grow up
and you'll see you're doing it right.

Positive x Negative = Negative
By: Tyler Ross

Confined by judgment, I can't restrain me.
I set off.
I feel subtracted, severely shamed,
on the path of misdirection.
So trapped inside my head, this prison
living with my past mistake.
So trapped inside my head, it isolates
as your reminder bites hard.

This endless battle, this casted stone,
this decision maker.
I am nothing. I am eternalness.

I'll Stay Gold

I’ll Stay Gold
By: Tyler Ross

I won’t change these morals, these values I’ve set.
It’s easy to go against every word that is said.
But that isn’t me.
I live my life free
from drinking, drugs, and promiscuous sex.
Forever staying free,
from the substances that alter and abuse the present
and live my life for me, out of step
Not above it all, but from what’s accepted.

My PMA keeps me sound, honest, and understanding.
Staying gold is the mentality I uphold to keep from drowning.
In a negative world judging the way I lead.
But that’s okay because I’m only in this for me.
For me,
staying gold is the key
to a healthy existence.
Forever I will be resistant.

Call me what you want.
Judge me for the way that I live.
I am still straight edge.
And don’t need people
telling me how I should live.
Nothing they can do can change what this is.
I am a straight edge.
I’ll stay gold for as long as I live.

Are You Cold? Have My Jacket

Are You Cold? Have My Jacket

By: Tyler Ross

I’m a wreck

Just trying to be honest

Forcing myself to be busy is the only way I can fight this

When alone I just can’t keep my head clear

Don’t know the man inside me now reflected in the mirror

I miss your dog and I miss all of your family

Providing this distance is the only way to reach sanity

For real, if you could, (I would)

Would you do it all again?

There’s a hole in my heart where you nestled in

And still I want the best for you, darling

Don’t believe this was a waste of our time

I couldn’t forget you if I tried

You tore out the best that was left in me

I’m burnt so let me be blistered

Now see my hopes spill out in front of me

Questions raised with no answers

And I’ve got nothing to hide though I’ve tried

Had everything I ever wanted and it died

Don’t know where to turn but inside

I admit I can only blame myself

Holding onto my illusions pushing you toward someone else

And now that you’re gone, there’s a big part of me missing

I’ll scream out for you and hope that you’re listening

I felt the wrath of your irritation

But I believe you’re still there

I’m told the way to heal is to respect and give space

And time will show me you still care

And I want the best for you, darling

Don’t believe this was a waste of our time

I couldn’t forget you if I tried

You tore out the best that was left in me

I’m burnt so let me be blistered

Now see my hopes spill out in front of me

Questions raised with no answers

And I’ve got nothing to hide though I’ve tried

Had everything I ever wanted and it died

Don’t know where to turn but inside

I try to be cool, but it’s tough at times

A love this deep melted my mind

But I know that I have to be honest

And the only way to be healthy is if I keep my promise

You tore out the best that was left in me

I’m burnt so let me be blistered

Now see my hopes spill out in front of me

Questions raised with no answers

And I’ve got nothing to hide though I’ve tried

Had everything I ever wanted and it died

I don’t want to feel like I’m feeling inside

Solutions

Solutions
By: Tyler Ross

To the place of dreams where all life limbos, waiting to bloom
Attracting silence, but swimming in motion searching for the truth
Where discomfort throws a party, but only invites you
I was clawing through its darkness, were I found the proof

In the solutions, where the problem blindfolds progress, begging for more
As I fought myself and the unhealthiness to an evening of the score
To find the respect I needed and the clarity to rebuild, opening up space
Not realizing I was pushing away positive, leaving emptiness to replace

I tried everything, forcing more than I wanted to
I let stress take control; it rubbed off into your soul
Now, to the place of action where life takes baby steps, waiting for you
To the place of action where life takes baby steps, waiting for you

City Of Stress

City Of Stress
By: Tyler Ross

Wake me up, it's the start of the day
I have no money in my pockets and my rent, I still have to pay
Not much grub in the kitchen and the AC is out
My job is shit, but it's a job no doubt

Most around me I could care less for
Their mind's are warped
I don't want them knocking at my door
I'm jaded as fuck living in LA, but I've got to keep it posi
If I'm going to survive another day

It's about time to prove I am alive
I'm just a lone wolf trying to stay satisfied
My path is narrow, but I'll do my best
The walls may close, but I'll prevail in a city of stress

The Shoot To Ladder Mausoleum

The Shoot To Ladder Mausoleum
By: Tyler Ross

Love for you was always hard to front
Made it hard for me to ever want
A close connection to you
I never realized that you only tried your best to help me
There’s so much independence, I’ve grown to see
Hundreds of miles and closer you came to be
A man who tried his best to be free

What you see is not what’s always there
No matter how hard you focus your stare
One more word can kill you
It helped me realize that you only tried your best to help me
There’s so much independence, I’ve grown to see
Hundreds of miles and closer you came to be
A man who tried his best to be free

Now, why did I let my guard down?
Most of the time we shared, you weren’t there
And how do we gain for lost time now?
We grow closer in age, our time saved
Father and Son, we can smile to the grave
Smile to the grave
We’ve got to smile to the grave

This Is Me

This Is Me
By: Tyler Ross

Resort back and ask myself
Did they really mean a thing?
Great questions support my experiences
But the challenges still proceed
Head cases, strange places, and odd feelings not for me
I struggled more being myself not changing anything

For this is me
Doing favors for myself
Moving on sets me free
This is me
You get what you give
No respect, c’est la vie
This is me
Never stressing over those
Who won’t give their time
This is me
Life’s what you make of it
So simple with an equal mind

Second chances and I doubted myself
Was this really fair to me?
Being honest and loyal to those
While backs turned 180 degrees
Wasted time, closed my mind, and gave my heart away
It’s safe to say, I came to play and learned from my mistakes

For this is me
Doing favors for myself
Moving on sets me free
This is me
You get what you give
No respect, c’est la vie
This is me
Never stressing over those
Who won’t give their time
This is me
Life’s what you make of it
So simple with an equal mind

No tolerance for talk
Let all actions speak
This is me
No respect, c’est la vie

Stranger At My Door

Stranger At My Door
By: Tyler Ross

Didn’t know what I was thinking
We all know that roads been closed
Been running around in circles
Back in the same place but more exposed
Who’d guess you’d walk away
But linger close to myself
I had no idea your motives
Would have an impact on my health

So sick inside
Picked apart and left for the crows
I’m moving on
Cause we all know that’s what you want
Who am I to believe you’d change
Words are words but actions engage
A stranger at my door
Hands held out now wanting more
A stranger at my door
I cannot recognize you anymore

Strung along by your guessing games
You had a different plan
You said forever baby
But packed your bags again
You say I’m everything you want
I let myself be compromised
You say I’m everything and more
What’s there sure doesn’t add to the score
I’m locking you out

A stranger at my door
Hands held out now wanting more
A stranger at my door
I cannot recognize you anymore

The difference between me and you
Is the position that you stand
You go ahead and turn your back
For I am not your back-up plan
The time has been made for
now, you act like a stranger at my door

Time To Lose (He Said)

TIME TO LOSE (He Said)
by: Tyler Ross

waste my breath
is this a test?
why are you selling me out?
lie to me
can't find your feet
now there's no where to run
left your mark
played from the start
i'm not a fucking game
desperate, get over it
time to regret
fake the rest, no contest
i'm no one's second best
wait for the catch line
cause here it is
in a world of the deceiving
you'll be the only one leaving
with a big fuck you
and a trail full of tears
wipe your eyes, say goodbye
the truth would've been wise
here is the punch line
can you wait for it?
this road you've lost all sight
kick rocks and take a hike
learn to communicate
you aint worth shit!

note: communication is key. pay attention. don't use people and don't lead people down wrong paths, because you're afraid to open your mouth. express yourselves and don't hold back. tell the truth. lying gets you no where, but more lies...and it will become a way of life.
NO EXCUSES!!!
