Like Paper In The Wind

Like Paper In The Wind

By: Tyler Ross

Its funny how you say it,

like you have my back,

but when its time to be a friend

there’s just too much slack.

When trying to bridge this gap,

it becomes too much work.

I can’t seem to find the balance

limboing between the surface and the murk.

It drives me berserk

walking this constant one-way street.

Basic expectations become a luxury

when phoniness is a broken record on repeat.

I hate feeling like a freak.

A fiend yearning for a normal fix.

Where are the genuine people at

who want real friendships?

C’mon, let’s take a trip

down memory lane.

You know that place

where your type run this fucked up game?

You’re all the same,

but that’s been said before.

I won’t see any positive results

knocking at your door.

Maybe it’s a talk we’ve been putting off.

I can’t dodge anymore of your toxic molotovs.

A quick rip from the table cloth.

Can you see how much still remains?

For me, not enough.

I’m out and once your smoke clears

you won’t find me lingering about.

Won’t be hurting myself anymore

looking in mirrors.

Cheers!

Don’t let your shitty behavior hit you on the way to hell.

Respect is give and take,

can't you tell?

Maybe I’ll finally stop putting quarters in LA’s friendship well.

I don’t want to attract any more phonies to my nice.

Next time you cross me and fuck with my time.

Think twice.

No more questionable ties.

Word to the fucking wise.

Goodbye.

Burrie Burrie Me

Burrie Burrie Me
By: Tyler Ross

Years and Years ago,
a restaurant
in the valley,
we chatted over food.
Superb.
A new friend.
Same University,
more ways to extend
our friendship grew roots.
Television shows and intelligent convos,
laughter and enjoyment kept us there.
So many smiles,
so much joy.
It was easy to be your friend,
even when I annoyed.
You liked me,
then I liked you.
That cycle went on,
even if I played like I didn't have a clue.
Life separated,
then life drew us back in.
Always easy to start back up,
through thick and thin.
You were there for me,
and I for you.
We bonded a lot.
Got closer over the years.
Sex came into our picture
and even more cheers.
You were the most thrilling,
intoxicating and
some trouble.
We started and stopped
and started and stopped.
Closer friends,
I liked you a lot.
But kept my cool.
I think you sorta knew.
Visits became less frequent,
even if I didn't want them to.
Whenever I saw you after,
still
heartbeats like crazy.
With lots of time to think,
fuck,
you got me,
amazing!
Thoughts of you all the time.
Headspace covered.
Devine.
Still, always on my mind.
Still, always on my mind.
Can't shadow your shine.
Only now I reflect,
wondering if we'll ever get back that time.
In my mind.

Friendship (1994 - present)

Friendship (1994-present)
By: Tyler Ross

All
I've
wanted
was
to be included
more than
once.

* As an adult, friendship is a thing I don't believe in just like santa claus and magic. It's something I've read about, seen amongst my peers and dreamt about growing up, but I've never experienced a tight-knit, consistent group of people as friends in my life. I've always been the middle man, the last resort, or the go-to. I played baseball competitively as a youth and onward through high school and football, but even there, I never felt more than just a teammate on the field for that time being. I can never grasp what true lasting friendship means. It's kind of like growing up without a parent or not shown much love to where you become overly sensitive toward the subject or standoffish when its finally presented. It just hurts to think about it. This is where I'm still at going on 30 years old. It's quite tough to make substantial friends, even living in Los Angeles and working within the entertainment business. It's a very lonely feeling for me still no matter how much I put myself out there. The receiving end is usually very little to none, but still I wait and or try.

You're All The Same

You're All The Same
By: Tyler Ross

with a spark of a match.
we watch it burn.
the lessons of friendship.
you live and you learn.

don't forget who you are.
people come and they go.
one thing you need to remember.
never change and forever grow.

with every single mistake.
comes a consequence.
careful on who you let in.
there is no innocence.

reality needs to exist.
a true friend a dying dream.
eliminate the ignorance.
make the best of everything.

i can't seem to find your honesty, but I can point out the fake, you want to see?
robots are always telling me repeatedly, that they are true consistently.
how do you prevent falling into the trap.
pay attention to the excuses as a matter of fact.
stand clear from being the next one used.
play it smart and don't forget the real stays with you.

i over came everything.
you threw in my face.
never forget, never change.
you've all gone to waste.

concentrate to the max.
this is more than a pact.
crushing all your games.
you're all the same.

i tried my best to do what's right.
but now it's time to say goodnight.
you're all the same.
you're all the same.

Seth Kifer (He Won't Happen To Me)

Seth Kifer (He Won’t Happen To Me)
By: Tyler Ross

let me tell you a story about an incredible man
with adventures to sell and strength in his hands
not the type of guy to leave you behind
but the past is the past, we all did find
those were the days when our youth ran it all
our spirits so high and we stood so tall
never did we think a fracture could grow
separating our ties and the years we did know
memories can splinter
sticking us with regret
sure it hurts, but time has been spent
no way of turning back in time
we all move forward as some rewind
he won't happen to me
he won't happen to me
leaving a great man behind
he won't happen to me
he won't happen to me
the result was outrageous to find
he won't happen to me
he won't happen to me
is what they all fuckin' say
he’s told one thing
and we all fade away
so let me tell you a story about a masquerade man
with an interpreter’s mouth and strings for his hands
not the type of guy to wipe his loyalties away
but a new born hypocrite with nothing to say
a fresh chapter is written for our old historic friend
not a day goes by where we don't reflect on him
parting our ways, we wish he valued friendship
and fought for his men which stuck with him
