The Best Seat In The House

The Best Seat In The House
By: Tyler Ross

One empty seat
A room filled with chattering teeth
The studying minds debated
While celebrated peers escalated
The decisions juggled
For some no struggle
The monkeys that hopped off their backs
No longer needed to stay attached
One empty seat
Now became a dream standing on two feet
An attempt became made
As she reached out to speak
“Have we already turned in our papers?”
An easy reply
With those eyes
How could you say, “See you later?”
Even greater
It continued on in between the class
Drawn in so effortlessly
You wouldn’t want to pass
The opportunity said we’re striking gold
Information exchange
We both became sold
To the highest bidders very late
Semester was growing old
But it was now something you could further appreciate
The building up began
No one this time ran
But into each other for bliss
Equally elated
Minds glued and lips when we kiss
Thankful the seat became occupied
She is what you call permanent sweetness
Desired hands tied standing side by side
