The Right Mind
By: Tyler Ross
Preach when you preach a global truth
Teach the same lessons to every youth
Speak formulated and coherent replies
Don’t bullshit people to get by
Cry when necessary
Fight your fights with your mind
Respect everyone who respects you back
Better the existence of mankind
Rely on yourself
Always ready to react
Question everything you're told and read
Build yourself up and strive to succeed
Never settle for less
Focus on a true fulfilled success
Don’t be blessed
Rely on yourself
Never the less
Walk a logical conquest
Pride can’t swallow progress
Hope isn’t a time to finesse
Life won’t wait
Separate yourself from the word fate
Chances fall by your own risk
Avoid using your fists
Honesty prevails over the intentions to resist
Unity needs to persist
Smash all negativity that exists

The Shoot To Ladder Mausoleum
The Shoot To Ladder Mausoleum
By: Tyler Ross
Love for you was always hard to front
Made it hard for me to ever want
A close connection to you
I never realized that you only tried your best to help me
There’s so much independence, I’ve grown to see
Hundreds of miles and closer you came to be
A man who tried his best to be free
What you see is not what’s always there
No matter how hard you focus your stare
One more word can kill you
It helped me realize that you only tried your best to help me
There’s so much independence, I’ve grown to see
Hundreds of miles and closer you came to be
A man who tried his best to be free
Now, why did I let my guard down?
Most of the time we shared, you weren’t there
And how do we gain for lost time now?
We grow closer in age, our time saved
Father and Son, we can smile to the grave
Smile to the grave
We’ve got to smile to the grave

A Pause From Poetry: A Fighting Chance For Everyone
[Quote] "We as humans need to take a stand together and help one another. Every hard working individual deserves to have a piece of the pie, no matter where they come from. We've got to uplift our communities, starting with the poorer ones first. We as the lower classes need to take down this Nation's pyramid scam because the 'American Dream' is for everyone willing to work for it." (Tyler Ross)

Love Hurts
Love Hurts
By: Tyler Ross
Love hurts, so I’ll tell you straight
no fabrications in this debate
a subtle get together, the first date
a moment of sparks, which ultimately escalate
I warn you now, run while you still have you
soon enough you’ll feel depressed without a clue
attempts at learning as much as you can
retaining information and being a gentleman
taking pictures and memories that will eventually sting
from the eyes to the heart to the words she couldn’t sing
love hurts and it drains you like a drug
you become addicted to the feeling or even the common hug
it has you thinking like a madman
the pondering thoughts that enter your mind
you swear she’s lying to you
because you believed you were special like one-of-a-kind
consumed by the busy, all the time ticks on
one moment you were in love and the next, love was gone
you begin to finally move on or so you think
you step to a counter and order an unforgettable coffee drink
the feeling of being substituted ruins its delicious taste
your friends become like birds chirping, “she can be replaced.”
Love hurts and it carries such a heavy anchor
your ship can get sunken by a better invested gamer
word to the wise, run while you still have you
your heart will still be intact and not shattered in two
I wish I could go back to when I was in front of you
I would have asked please be serious in what you do
invested energy with a cut off source of power
love hurts when you continue to waste it on the cowards
I smile at love and wish it good luck
love hurts when you miss it this much
I smile at love and only hope it returns again
I’m caught in this trap of love I want to win
years of dedication and the efforts show
uncomplainingly waiting to give it another go

Public Appearance
Public Appearance
By: Tyler Ross
I feel as if this world is trapped
Sweeping up the potential under the welcome mat
In order for change, we have to formulate a plan
The efforts are of no use, if you don't know why you should take a stand
We are the power that makes us man and woman
Regroup and fight
Taking a seat will blow out our right
The use of a voice
More powerful , taken serious
It's up to you if you want to make that choice
Don't bitch and feel sorrow
Frustration in your every day pain
Survival to be free from the upper hand
If you are calm and sane
Not enough will happen and you will continue to point the finger for blame
I feel as if this world is trapped
The youth will grow up with less of a chance
Adding to a history of depressing stats
If you aren't angry and have nothing to say
This world will eat you up and spit you out
For being bought off in silence that way
Don't let anyone take your life owed freedom away

Typical Timing
Typical Timing
By: Tyler Ross
I’m feeling the walls close in around me.
Too many thoughts have dropped me to my knees.
Just when I believed, everything was set right for me.
The blinds then covered with less light to see.
Temptation burns in me.
So, I ask you why; do I always end up here?
Left with questions that aren’t clear.
Consistent moments and no fear.
It doesn’t add up.
No sense in just lying.
Think I should be trying, but nothing is worth denying.
It’s typical timing.
At this moment, I won’t do anything.
I’ll stand my ground and think for myself.
It’s not so wrong to not go along, but we always come in contact.
A perfect ocean, I want to swim, but there’s a shark with a contract.
Temptation yearns.
So much concern.
So, I ask you why; do I always end up here?
Left with questions that aren’t clear.
Consistent moments and no fear.
It doesn’t add up.
No sense in just lying.
Think I should be trying, but nothing is worth denying.
The circumstance is bad.
I can’t react.
I can’t even act.
But, I won’t turn back, though I feel the facts.
Between wrong and right.
There is a chance in sight.
Moments are short.
It’s hard to sit still, even with a strong will.
My self-control overkill.
This is my thrill.

Will Only Manifest Equal Numbers
Will Only Manifest Equal Numbers
By: Tyler Ross
Talk your shit
Keep pressing on
Society is knee deep
Disrespecting women all along
Equal rights
Have a balanced tone
But they are just words
With few actions ever shown
I don’t believe those are rights
Privileges at best
Women are just as valuable as men
But still they’re sized up by their chest
Now, that isn’t right
Are you saying this isn‘t true?
How can you deny a fairness?
Over hundreds of years
They sure showed you
Is it physical strength or centuries of oppression
That has man thinking he’s better than a lady?
They never even had a chance
Until now, but their opportunities still vary
A woman can do just as much as a man
But still to most, men don’t understand
So, they’ll continue their actions in domination
Holding us back at becoming a progressive and positive civilization
I can’t just sit back with my mouth shut
Thinking about what to say to sum it all up
My silence is broken by women abused
I’m a can of kerosene with a blown fuse
Equality is new news
Standing up for all women with everything to lose

Paint It Red
Paint It Red
By: Tyler Ross
Trying to contain myself
I find most are lying
What am I doing here?
I’ve got to get back
To a place of structure
I’m not limited
Nor do I feel the drag
Until the light goes out
Night comes a fall
Hang ups and disconnection
Bouncing off the fucking wall
I can’t get my head straight
I’m pulling weight
Disbelieving so called fate
Chance, the word of direction
No more cop outs
Take charge
My true confession
Night comes a fall
Hang ups and disconnection
Bouncing off the fucking wall
This life leads to nothing
I’ve got to make it something
Not going to wait
Or procrastinate
Gambling on a heaven gate
Paint it red
I’ll paint noise too
This world is empty
I’ll make the most
By repainting you
Paint it red
Last wish fed
Counting backward
A misled mission
We all die alone instead

Sentimental Smile
Sentimental Smile
By: Tyler Ross
...I laid my head back against a familiar pillow and reflected, but one thought persisted. A thought of forgotten words. A forgotten feeling. Something was missing. This one thought persisting. A light bulb clicked. I left my smile with you. Please hold on to it. For you are the one it picked. Love always runs thick. With you, love always runs thick.

Life Will Let Go, But Don’t Let It Keep You Low
Life Will Let Go, But Don’t Let It Keep You Low
By: Tyler Ross
I thought I was fulfilled until I met her
No matter my position, I yearned for her
Struggling to grasp her leaving me alone
I now can close my eyes smiling about long ago
Please be happy where ever you may travel
With rain or shine, life is more than a path of gravel
A direction of chance we all choose where we go
Life is what we make of it
In the end, it’s what you were able to show
Life, don’t ever let it keep you low

Reaching Out
Reaching Out
By: Tyler Ross
The pain has got me down again
I could really use a hand or a friend
The way I’m treated makes no sense
I feel I’m slipping in
Your attitude is a one way street
Reaching out brings me to defeat
Holding back makes no sense
From you I walked away
One hand washes the other and that’s a fact
When the roles are reversed, let’s see how you act
Questionable, the fairness you prove
Not giving in. I won’t give in
There’s nothing more to lose
Nothing more to lose
The search is over
The search is over
The party has come to a stop
What you give out is what you’ll receive
Now you know why I chose to leave
Basic guidelines but different time lines
We all know that’s true
Once you walked away, I knew I was through
Reaching out

Bicycle Ride
Bicycle Ride
By: Tyler Ross
Unlocked and we were ready. The jump-off the block onto the sidewalk headed for the city so steady. I concentrated, as the wheels rotated simultaneously devouring the road pre-sweaty. Fascinated by a whole new perspective, twelve speeding over uneven earth. All the worth as wind combined with the sun against my skin chasing my destination. More alive in complete fascination, redefining travel is this beneficial man-made invention. Go green, the Mother Nature spokespeople’s representation. Saving my pennies, getting exercise, not to mention the extension to new conversations and the attention. Adventures vary from short trips to metro link University stays to entertainment wishes and other opportunities for independent choices to be made. Sometimes, we are late, but it's never important when rolling on twos escaping traffic’s terrible time of wasted dates. We ride as one through diverse habitats, cities, towns, or the coast just exploring new ways to encounter fun. We ride as one.

Human Perception
Human Perception
By: Tyler Ross
These hands, these foundation providers for touch
Conducting a craft learned and practiced within a life
Clutch with purpose and an ache to excel
Eyes, these eyes that transfer light to see
Judgment makers derived from images arrayed consciously
Guidance and decision producers determining a reality
These ears, sound collectors and enablers to hear
Balanced from the start and sensitive no matter near or far
Pressure assemblers frequently assisting everywhere we are
This scent, this arrangement of assorted smells
Warning signs or distinctive indicators to infinite aromas
Pleasant or repulsive hints helpful in developing a direction
This mouth, this entrance to a muscle capable of taste
Buds of electric exploders established to embrace flavor
Internal and external aptitude and advantages for not wasting such gifts at all

We study
We break
We grow essentially from the fake
Faces are met
Faces come together
Faces tend to make the experience better
Professor’s teach
Professor’s inform us to reach
Professor’s help shape our readiness in careers we seek
We focus
We can be tardy
We enjoy different ways to party
Goals are set
Goals can change
Goals to graduate range in this day and age
We shine
We get lost in line
We can make the most out of our time
